Leadville is the highest city in North America, at 10,152 feet. Mount Elbert (14,440 ft) and Mount Massive are the two tallest peaks in the state, and both stand in the lodge windows over Turquoise Lake. The air is thin, the light is long, and the nights are the darkest you'll ever sleep under.
This is Colorado's silver-and-gold country: ghost towns and mine ruins line the roads you ride, and Mosquito Pass — 13,185 feet, the highest through-road in North America — climbs right out of town. Our guides know which mine built which building on Harrison Avenue.
Leadville is about 25 minutes from Copper Mountain, an hour from Vail and Breckenridge, an hour and a half from Aspen over Independence Pass in summer, and about two hours from Denver International. Tell us your travel and we'll help you plan the last mile up to the lodge.
